the Better Body Collective

Background & Experience

“I graduated from The University of Strathclyde in Glasgow with a Joint Honours in Accounting & Finance. I very quickly came to realise that the traditional route into the business world was not my calling. I decided to follow my two passions… health & fitness and helping others. I was always keenly aware of a strong internal desire to help others, and to this day is the key driver that pushed me forward.

After a year and a half slugging it out in Glasgow my girlfriend at the time (who is now my wife!) and I were presented with an opportunity to move to Dubai working for a new Fitness First club that was due to be open. We felt we had nothing to lose and jumped at the chance. The first year was tough, but toughing it out was the best thing that could have happened for us.

Just over 7 years on, I have been fortunate enough to gain some incredible experiences. I became the head coach of the CrossFit program at the Warehouse gym in Dubai and enjoyed 3 years of building the program. I got the chance to work with a broad range of clients from many different nationalities. I got to attend many courses to build my knowledge and continue my personal and professional development. I’ve had the privilege of spending time in Clinical settings assisting with the post-rehabilitation process, bridging the gap between rehab and performance. My most recent role before setting up The Better Body Collective was the Director Of Training of Embody Fitness, where I mangled a facility with at one stage 11 coaches including myself.

Notable Personal Achievements:

Career wise, I have presented at the MEFITPRO Fitness Summit on two separate occasions presenting on topics ranging from exercise progression & regression, Olympic Weightlifting and Exercise Execution & Delivery. I’ve also been fortunate to have contributed to well know blogs online such as J-Max Fitness, Healthy Living Heavy Lifting and T-Nation.

Fitness wise, I competed in the finals of the Dubai Fitness Championship on 4 separate years. As part of a team, I competed at the CrossFit Games Meridian Regionals in 2016. Body composition wise, I’ve have taken part in a couple of photoshoots, with the plan to compete in Natural Bodybuilding at some stage.

Moving into 2020, the sole aim is to establish the Better Body Collective as not only the go to team for body transformations, but also long term body composition, health and fitness outcomes.

Further down the line, I wish for my team and I to pay it forward by providing coaches education within the UAE and Gulf Region. I personally love working with other coaches in the industry, whether it be delivering workshops and courses or even working with a team of coaches within a facility to raise the bar on their service offering to their clients and members. The way I see it, if we can raise the bar of the standard of coaching within the industry, we can provide more people with a high value service. Working with coaches allows the Collective to make an even greater impact on a broader scale.”

Known To Say & Favourite Quotes:

“As a coach I am not here to dictate, I am here to educate.”

“Good is the enemy of great”.

“At the end of the day, it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished. It’s about what you’ve done with those accomplishments. It’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better. It’s about what you’ve given back.” – Denzel Washington

“If there’s one thing most people could improve the most not only in training but in many other aspects of their life, is to be 100% present and focused on the task at hand, in that exact moment.”
